PyKids (operating at learnpykids.com) is an educational coding platform designed for children aged 8–14. We teach Python programming through interactive lessons, quizzes, and a live code playground. PyKids is operated by a private individual and can be contacted at faneliacoding@gmail.com.

2. 🛡️ COPPA Compliance — Children's Privacy

PyKids is subject to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), a United States federal law that governs the online collection of personal information from children under the age of 13.

We comply fully with COPPA by:

• Not requiring children to disclose more personal information than necessary to use our service
• Not collecting personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent
• Providing parents with the ability to review, correct, or delete their child's information
• Serving only child-directed, non-personalized advertisements — no behavioral tracking
• Maintaining a clear and comprehensive privacy policy accessible to parents at all times

3. 📋 What Information We Collect

We practice data minimization — we only collect the absolute minimum information needed to provide our educational service.

If your child creates an account (optional):

• Email address (used for login and account recovery only)
• Display name or username (chosen by the user)
• Lesson progress and badge achievements (stored locally and/or in our database)
• Code written in the playground (only if saved; stored locally in the browser)

Automatically collected (anonymous):

• Browser type and general device type (for compatibility)
• Page views and feature usage (aggregated, non-identifiable)
• General geographic region (country-level only, via Google Analytics if enabled)

We do NOT collect:

• Full name, home address, phone number, or school name
• Social Security numbers or government IDs
• Payment information (processed securely by Stripe; we never see card details)
• Voice recordings, photos, or biometric data
• Precise geolocation

4. 👨‍👩‍👧 Parental Consent

For children under 13 who wish to create an account on PyKids:

• A parent or guardian email address is required during account registration
• We send a verification email to the parent asking them to confirm their consent before the account is activated
• The child's account will remain inactive until a parent confirms via the emailed link
• Parents may withdraw consent at any time by emailing us at faneliacoding@gmail.com

Children may use the free, non-account portions of PyKids (lessons, quizzes, playground) without creating an account, in which case no personal information is collected.

5. 🔑 Parental Rights

As the parent or legal guardian of a child using PyKids, you have the following rights under COPPA and applicable law:

• Right to Review: Request a copy of any personal information we have collected about your child
• Right to Correct: Request that inaccurate information be corrected
• Right to Delete: Request that your child's personal information be deleted from our systems
• Right to Refuse Further Collection: Withdraw consent for future collection of your child's information while allowing them to continue using the service in a limited capacity
• Right to Refuse Marketing: We do not market to children, but parents may contact us any time to confirm this

6. 📢 Advertising — No Behavioral Targeting

PyKids uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Because this is a child-directed site, we have configured our ads with the following mandatory flags:

• tag_for_child_directed_treatment: 1 — marks our site as child-directed under COPPA
• tag_for_under_age_of_consent: 1 — applies age-of-consent protections
• requestNonPersonalizedAds: 1 — disables personalized/behavioral advertising

Google's privacy practices for child-directed content are governed by Google's Privacy Policy and their Family Policy.

We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect the personal information we collect, including:

• All data transmission is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
• Account data is stored securely in Google Firebase with restricted access rules
• Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe — we never store card numbers or bank information
• We do not sell or share children's personal information with third parties for marketing purposes

• Cloudflare Pages — website hosting and CDN

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes affecting children's data, we will notify parents via email if we have their contact information. Continued use of PyKids after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
